Cover Reveal

I'm excited to finally share the cover for my next novel, The Black Magic of Mombasa, the fourth instalment in The Misadventures of a Modern-Day Nomad series.

The idea for this story was born during my time travelling Kenya's Swahili Coast and living in Zanzibar in 2023- 2024. What began as a fascination with the region's incredible history, culture, and hospitality slowly evolved as locals would casually mention black magic, witch doctors, curses, and spirits—not as ghost stories, but as part of everyday life.

Like most Westerners, I initially dismissed it. But as time went on and certain events unfolded, my perception of these ancient beliefs began to change. Whether black magic is real or not ultimately became the wrong question. What fascinated me far more was what people are willing to do because they believe it is.

The Black Magic of Mombasa is my darkest novel yet—a psychological travel thriller exploring love, manipulation, culture, colonial history, and the unsettling space where rational thinking collides with deeply held belief. But don't worry, it's not all doom and gloom. As with all of Archie's misadventures, there's a healthy dose of self-deprecating humour, travel mishaps, and laugh-out-loud moments to balance the darkness.

As always, many of the locations are real and inspired by places I explored myself, from the bustling streets of Mombasa and Stone Town to the remote shores of Pemba Island. I can't wait to share Archie's next misadventure with you. I hope you're ready to question what you believe.
